    105 attack speed
    35 strength

    Active - Conduit

For 1.2 seconds allies can target you with their single target offensive spells and you'll redirect them towards the selected enemy.

    6 second CD
    Cast range 330.
    mana cost 0

Only the buff can be dispelled.

If Buff is dispelled while allies' offensive spell is heading towards you, you take the damage and status effect.

Enemy still takes damage if dispelled after spell was redirected.

When redirected the cast range is recalculated based on the distance between the conduit and the target. If the target is out of range before the redirection occurs the conduit takes the damage and negative effect.

Instant travel spells have .3 second delay before being redirected. (thus ensuring a chance the conduit takes damage and effect if dispelled quickly enough.)

When the enemy is damaged by a redirected spell the original caster is not revealed in Fog of War unless the buff was dispelled in time.

Kill credit goes to original spell caster. Kill bounty is split between caster and conduit. Effect bonuses based on kills go to the original caster (such as spawn spiderlings). Effect bonuses based on anything else are shared by the caster and conduit (like if batrider was equipped with Quantum Gauntlet, a redirected spell would also get amplified by Sticky Napalm stacks).

Spells that can be ground targeted can't be redirected by the conduit.

Spells that have an effect that differs based on ally or enemy will act as an enemy targeted cast as long as the conduit buff is active before it gets redirected.

Why do you lose the Hand of Midas active?

The active is simply replaced for another one.

That in of itself isn't something worth quibbling over.

I haven't seen any good application of this active aside from being a clunky range-extension...

    This isn't clunky, it's awesome.

    The applications are simply numerous.

So numerous I'll have to group it up into a few overarching discussion points.

    This item is:

    1. A team fight coordinator.
    2. A method of hiding positioning.
    3. A huge range extender.

The gauntlet will make pubs more fun because it allows your initiator or core objective taker to call shots more efficiently. They can run up to any group of enemies and use the Conduit to focus control and/or spell damage to a specific target even if they themselves are attacking a different target. No other item naturally helps with complex coordination like this would.

Aether lens is a fairly popular item and it only increases ranges by 220. The gauntlet though doubles cast ranges. Don't forget this doesn't just affect normal spells but also orb walking. Jakiro with a 1600 liquid fire cast range? Drow Ranger with a 1260 attack range for 1.2 seconds every 4.8 seconds? That's crazy good.

This means it greatly helps with chasing because typically it is the top 2 farmed heroes on each team that typically have the fastest movement speed. Now a lesser farmed team mate can keep up casting spells for a longer period at a longer distance and thus increasing the chances of more kills being gained.

Then there is the fact that using Conduit doesn't reveal the original spell caster in Fog of War. This has the most profound effect during night time but it also effects how sieges at towers and Roshan are handled.

For example when Radiant tries to take dire offlane and position their team to be safe but readily available for a fight those teammates are entirely dependent on tree cover but at least one will still be as far up as the tower being attacked but to the side. Such positioning forces even more team mates into the trees at the side the most forward person picked. With the Quantum Gauntlet the positioning of the team can be dictated by the person who is hitting the towers instead and the rest of them will have much safer positioning.

If the item is held by the initiator then that person can more freely scout ahead and know his or her teammates can quickly support them if she or he uses the active quickly enough.

It even helps your team defensively because casting spells generally betrays your position and in many cases a support wants to avoid dying when the enemy properly starts the fight on their team. By not showing where the original spellcaster is it significantly slows down the enemy core's ability to track them and kill them off before they get away after using up their spell.

I could go on some more but I feel how great the item is should be apparent.

The only flaw is the gimped cast range for the active ability.

The coordination required to make this work is impossible. 330 cast range, unit target and in 1.2 seconds your ally has to target you w/ an ability (including the skill cast time and etc) so that it can bounce to the hero you targeted.
And what happens to the midas?
