(Literally the first post in this subforum. Yey :ninja: )

Although not "technically" latest, I'll just pickup where I left off from the old forums (its Dec 2015 afair)

Jan 11 - Bought a cheapo 4:3 monitor for a dedicated dota2 minimap. Was cool but impractical. Sold it after two weeks

Jan 18 - extra SSD (2nd hand around 42 usd) since my 120gb one was filling up

Jan 28 - I love this case cuz of the space and somewhat clean look (because all the storage is located at the back)

Feb 8 - Switched my cpu cooler, was dissapointed cuz it has the same performance of my old one (Ice Blade Pro) even after I added another fan for a push/pull setup

Mar 1 - Sold the 212x and got (arguably) the best air cooler out there, the Noctua D15. Great performance abeit large and "poop" colored fans

May 27 - Switched to liquid just for the LULz. Literally just an aesthetic upgrade. Product is ID Cooling Frostflow 240L btw
    [IMG]

July 13 - Was able to sell my 970 at a good price (229 usd from 323 18 months ago) so I was tempted to upgrade :D

Aug 24 - Last upgrade for the year, was able to buy this brand new @ 256 usd. Had a TN panel 1080p 60hz monitor and I saw a TON of improvement, not just the high framerates but the color quality as well

How did you make only the minimap show in the other monitor?

I already forgot the specific steps, but there are tons of youtube vids for it. All I remember is it's an app that can crop a specific part of your desktop and expands it.

I would've probably bought 2 ssd's for raid 0. Real quality of life change.

The extra monitor sounds more like a cool gadget, and not very practical but I love it. Here I am just waiting for the SDD I ordered to speed up my laptop a bit. Will need to be careful with space management then :(

The idea is really cool. I remember when op posted it on reddit. Never thought about how practical it was because it's awesome upfront.
    Btw,
CCleaner can totally help you there.

I just have an 15GB music collections, and double that in movies and then quite some software. Now I can get away with not using an external harddrive because I have the space, but it really is bad practice.

Personally my ssd's only contains the OS (obviously), apps, dota2 and cs:go. Everything else is on a hdd; media (songs, movies), non vital/offline games, documents and installers.

Although my 2tb hdd is already nearing 25% free space, I might need to buy another :ninja:

[IMG] [IMG] First post! Recently upgraded from the stock Intel HSF to the Cryorig H7. A week or so before that, I went from an i3-4130 to a 4690K.

I used to be like that too with my almost full 500GB HD. And when I bought my now 3.5y/o laptop, I could've chosen a mechanic hd, but instead I said, fuck it, and chose a 120GB SSD. I deleted pretty much everything I had, and tbh, I don't regret it. It was mostly games and movies.

Last month I managed to take the HD of my mom's dead netbook, and started doing the same. Only Win10, software, dota 2, overwatch and sc2 on SSD, and still 25GB left. Halo 5, Forza Apex on the mech. driver.

Do you think the cooler upgrade was worth it? I think I hardly would upgrade from the stock cooler to a non water cooler.

Definitely. It went from hitting 90°C+ in Prime 95 at stock frequencies, to mid 70°C at 4.2GHz. I've been playing World of Warcraft for about 3 hours now, and it's at 44°C. It's about 10 times quieter than the stock fan too. Worth every penny.

Recently got a second hand surface pro 4 for about 500€ with type cover included. Nice gadget overall, but windows 10 is still a joke.

Got this baby for half its price -- around 15$. Definitely liked it, good audio overall and it felt less bulky than my Sol Republic Tracks V8. Though at this time a friend is currently enjoying it (lent it since I do have an extra pair).

Sent my 970 back to Amazon after the recall and then bought a 1060 :D Looking at getting a 144hz monitor next (4k is overrated)

I just ordered a GTX 1070 and 24gb of faster RAM (mainly for Overwatch's sake), I'm hoping this will be enough to push my system up over 144 fps constantly in Dota so I can make my next purchase of two ASUS 144Hz 2K monitors. I'll report back if it goes well!

Besides waiting for Black Friday, does anyone know where else to get 144Hz namebrand monitors for cheap?

None of the things you bought will probably help tbh.

Got quite a bit of stuff upgraded in the last 30 days.

    • CPU: Intel Core i5 6600 (6MB Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
    • GPU: MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 6 GB
    • RAM: 2x8 GB
    • Motherboard: ASRock Z170 PRO4S
    • SSD 500GB Samsung 850 Evo
    • Power: 650W XFX TS Gold Series
    • Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R

    • Headset: Sennheiser HD 518
    • Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Red)
    • Mouse: Logitech Daedalus Prime G302
    • Steam Controller

Still unsure about the microphone, was discussing some fun YouTube/podcast time with a couple of friends, might wanna go with a Blue Yeti.
Oh and, monitor/speakers left for later, not in a hurry with those.

Edit: Not really tech but it kinda goes along. Can someone recommend me a good chair? Not sure if Maxnomic is overpriced and not really into waiting for λ Chair...

I don't know what you mean unless you're implying that Dota is mainly CPU-limited. I haven't done much to confirm that it's GPU limited but I do notice that it rarely tops out on CPU usage but always on memory.
