I usually press "h" to hold position. I have no clue why they'd change The commands from The original dota.

Press S to cancel your current action or stop. Press H to hold position.

Try yelling in your mic. They implemented some natural language processing last patch so it might work. Make sure you use your push to talk.

Update your command setting to legacy mode (S stops your hero while you hold it, attacks/follows nearest enemy when release).

It's useful for last hitting...S spamming gets you the exact right time to last hit.

H is mostly useful to remain hidden into fog while playing supports (waiting action to happen and enter as surprise factor) and split pushing with Dagger/Blink heroes (also hidding into fog).

Instead of s-spamming you should simply use attack move instead.

There are too many situations where that setting can potentially screw you over and all the benefits can be reaped with the use of A-move.

Unfortunately, the original WC3 'Hold Position' seems absent from DotA. It's one of my major annoyances.

It's crucial when you are into a last hit battle...fainting is simply crucial man.

Also, auto right clicking is far more comfortable midgame on when you got a nice dmg ratio and last hits happen automatically.

For every other situation auto attack may mess you up, there's the H button.

I'm not talking about your quote. The option isn't in advanced hotkeys. What are you referring to?

there is a "hold S to stop action" option in the menu IIRC. I always use that since it is available. Although I still use the combination of S spamming, S holding, and sporadically moving around before last-hitting.

Cancel current action; its the 6th choice in advanced hotkeys. you can find it below move, directional move, and patrol hotkeys.

I already knew that...I was looking for a WC3-Style hold position.

Your unit will hold its position and automatically engage enemies within range and return to the original position.

This doesn't seem to exist in Dota 2 afaik. There's the 'always auto attack' function but it feels distinct from the WC3 Hold position.
