It's been a month and I don't have the right amount of intellect to figure this one out. Please send help.

Howl is the main reason. At night time, howl gives 400 HP to all your allies and 200 hp to your summons, which is absurd. On top of that, he no longer needs lifesteal to sustain himself due to new feral impulse giving HP regen.

Is that an hp increase or a heal? I'm still confused about it.

Much like level 25 QoP he needs an absurd requirement to unlock his "brokenness" (maxed Howl + night time).

Other than that he's virtually the same as before and no one truly knows how good he is while making a big fuzz about his changes.

For all practical purposes, it works kinda like Armlet. Temporary HP + damage. Removable buff. It's not even that good if not at night.

Don't know the mechanics behind it, but I think its similar to Kotl's Chakra where it increases your health and max health by 400.

EDIT: Confirmed the above with dota2wiki.

Confirmed, Blarrg likes to talk about things he knows little or nothing about.

It heals a little, because it increases both current and max hp, but when you lose the hp it drops both proportionately.

So if you have X/Y hp, it becomes (X+400)/(Y+400), and then when it goes away you get (X+400)*Y/(Y+400) /(Y+400)*Y/(Y+400).

    No.

When casted, it gives your max and current HP + 400. So if you are at 200/600, it will put you at 600/1000.

When it expires, it puts your max back to normal and adjusts your current to the same percentage. So if you were at 200/600, it puts you at 600/1000 (60% HP) when casted, and when it runs out (assuming you've taken 0 damage), you'll go to 360/600 (also 60%).

Meaning it's not a heal at all because that's NOT how heals work. Ever seen how Purification works? How Death Coil on ally works? How every fucking heal in the game works? THEY DONT DROP. YOU DONT LOSE THE HP YOU GAINED FROM A HEAL.

Understand man, stop being like Blarrg and spouting bullshit.

The thing with Lycan is, his main ability other than Shapeshift is Wolves, not Howl or Feral.
Both Howl and Feral are designed to work in conjunction with Wolves (and Necro summons if you want to do that), but are not that great by themselves.

you want to do a skill build maxing Howl and/or Feral first, you are stupid because you missed the main skill of this hero. As shitty as Wolves are now, those 2 wolf summons are going to do more damage for you than the % damage from Feral and temporary buff from Howl together.

As long as Wolves keep receiving nerf after nerf, he won't shine.

Clinkz Dark Pact does not reset your HP back proportionally, your current HP stays the same if the Dark Pact buff expires and only lowers if your current HP becomes higher than your max HP.

his ult transformation time (retarded as fuck) still gimps him and is probably the reason why u still dont see him in competetive.

He was buffed. His ability to take fights at night time makes him a crazy good timing hero. Being able to give your team 400 HP during a teamfight in the early game is stupid good. Mek alone gives 250 HP in a fight and thats already widely known as a teamfight changer, Howl gives 400.

The transformation time is understandable considering how strong the ability is. Its more about the ridiculous cooldown it has at early levels, in my opinion.

Its bad for trying to escape if you didn't precast it, otherwise its not a huge deal. I think the ability would be far too broken if it had no cast time.

Not to mention Shapeshift itself is basically little more than a haste rune for him (one that takes more than a full second to activate) now. Whereas, in the past, it was an extremely effective DPS boost (reduced BAT + critical) and even EHP (base HP + armor increase) boost.

with his 2 main abilities nerfed, it doesn't really matter whether Howl and/or Feral receive little buffs now. There are better auraman-style heroes if you really needed them in your lineup.
