It's not that I'd be mad if this thread peaks with a post about dabbing, I'd just be disappointed that's all.

PD definition of troll: everyone who disagrees with the dominant ideology of PD. :cat: Well, anyway.

I have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and am currently in the process of getting my master’s in computer science. I mention this not to be an asshole or to demonstrate that I am smart, but simply to show that I have familiarity with statistical modeling and algorithms which are used in social science studies.

I am fully aware of the common pitfalls in application modeling and interpretation. But in the most academic sense, statisticians can never be 100% sure in their findings (hell, there are even different schools of thought in understanding the meaning of statistics). We rely on confidence intervals, p-values, Spearman’s and Pearson’s coefficients, and many other metrics to come up with best estimators for a given problem. If we only approached problems theoretically, we would never be able to solve real world problems.

However, there is just very little merit to discussing these things on PD. Aside from me and Eutychius, nobody in this thread has real STEM background (math & physics). Like what are we going to talk about? Cloud computing? Random forests? TensorFlow? That would be a waste of time for all of us. Besides, this forum is just for casual armchair politician arguing. It's not that serious, people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Feeling triggered her. I have a B.Sc. in Physics and hopefully soon a M.Sc. However I just chose to use the ignore list and wast my time with casual shitposting.

I can't believe this Merlini guy. Chooses a path of success over the path of imminent demise, WTF?
