Staff

What is a moderator?
A moderator is a member of the community who has shown that they have a great understanding of the rules, attitude and direction that we wish to take this forum. They have a few duties that they must do daily that include but are not limited to:
  • Checking and dealing with reports that are made by the community.
  • Deleting spam threads and topics.
  • Guiding topics back on topic when they have strayed to far off the original topic.
  • Understanding and dealing with issues around the forum.

What is the difference between a Forum Manager and a moderator?
A moderator looks over individual areas of the forum, while a Forum Manager oversees entire areas of the forum. The Forum Managers supervise moderators and look into issues with the staff if issues arise before it is escalated to the administration. Forum Managers are skilled staff members who have shown that they can help to delegate and take care of the forum on a higher level. They also serve as guides for new staff members. Each Forum Manager has a specific section they look after be it "Dota", "Off Topic", "Member Service Center" or "Feedback."

How do I apply to become a forum moderator? There is no formal application to become a forum staff member, our staff is always on the lookout for new people to help keep our staff the best it can be. Posting in the right areas of the forum and being generally overall helpful and showing skills in certain areas [HR, general Dota knowledge, etc] will all get you notice by our staff. The current Head Of Staff Wivot is also open to private massages if you have any questions regarding this process.

What do I do if I have an issue with a staff member?
In a few seldom cases there are moderators who have lost touch with the community and need to be led back down the right path. If you do have an issue with a member of the staff we first ask that you try and sort it out with the staff member via PM. If that does not help the situation you can escalate it to the staff members direct supervisor the Forum Manager of that area and they should be able to help in most if not all cases. If it does get to an extreme where you wish for an administrator to step in you will post Warning / Ban Appeals and it will be looked over by a an administrator. Once a decision has been made in this forum by the administration it is final and cannot be changed.
